Ring in the New Year by checking off an experience that should be on everyone’s Bucket List – the Tournament of Roses Parade! Get a sneak peek at the floral floats when you walk through one of the established float construction barns, watching volunteers meticulously applying the finish touches to the creative masterpieces. Watch the pageantry and spectacle of the floats and marching bands pass by your premier grandstand seating located near the first turn on the parade route. See the post-parade showcase of floats up-close, taking time to really examine and marvel at the organic materials used to cover every inch.
But, it’s not all about the floats! Your multi-day celebration includes a tour of Hollywood and a VIP behind-the-scenes tour of the second-oldest movie studio in the U.S., Paramount Pictures. A one-hour docent tour and free time at the stunning Huntington Library, Art Collections & Botanical Gardens, admission to the world-class Long Beach Aquarium, and a relaxing Long Beach Harbor cruise add to your memorable experience. DAY 1: Wednesday, December 30
Upon arrival at the HYATT REGENCY LONG BEACH, check in at the Tour Monkey hospitality table to collect your official Tournament of Roses parade program, Tournament of Roses pin, Tour Monkey seat cushion, and your Rose Parade (and/or Rose Bowl) tickets!
The rest of day and evening are at your leisure. The Hyatt Regency is conveniently located across from The Pike at Rainbow Harbor, a picturesque waterfront dining, shopping and attractions venue. Restaurants include: Q Smokehouse, Tokyo Wako, Parkers’ Lighthouse, Gladstone’s, PF Chang’s, Outback Steakhouse, and Chili’s. Of course, you can enjoy the hotel’s restaurant and bar, as well!

DAY 2: Thursday, December 31 (B L)
Today, we depart early for Pasadena, where we’ll walk through the ROSEMONT FLOAT CONSTRUCTION BARN, watching volunteers meticulously apply the finishing touches of flowers, leaves, vegetables, bark, and seeds to the floats. Then, enjoy an informative mini tour of DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES as we wind our way to lunch at the SAN ANTONIO WINERY. Yes, vino is included with your buffet lunch! A one-hour docent tour of the magnificent HUNTINGTON LIBRARY, ART COLLECTIONS & BOTANICAL GARDENS, followed by free time to explore, shop, and unwind with a coffee and treat rounds out our day. At 9pm and midnight, fireworks over the Queen Mary will celebrate the New Year. Position yourself anywhere at The Pike at Rainbow Harbor (the harborfront venue across the street from the hotel) to watch the display.
DAY 3: Friday, January 1 (B L)
Happy New Year! We depart early this morning for the 132nd TOURNAMENT OF ROSES PARADE. Your grandstand assigned seats (with the sun at your backs) are located near the beginning of the 5.5-mile route and close to where our bus is parked. After the bucket list-checked awesomeness concludes, we’re sure you’ll be hungry. Enjoy a Mexican buffet lunch at EL PASEO on OLVERA STREET, a quaint outdoor Mexican marketplace and visitor favorite. Your combo ticket for a LONG BEACH HARBOR CRUISE and admission to the AQUARIUM OF THE PACIFIC will keep you busy for the rest of the afternoon. (For those who purchased Rose Bowl game tickets from Tour Monkey’s ticket broker, a boxed lunch and roundtrip transportation from the parade to the game and to the hotel is included.) The evening is at your leisure.
DAY 4: Saturday, January 2 (B L)
You saw the floats before the parade. You saw the floats at the parade. Now, you’ll see the POST-PARADE SHOWCASE OF FLOATS up-close. Volunteers will be on hand to answer any questions about the organic materials covering the floats. An Italian family-style lunch awaits you at MAGGIANO’S at the Farmer’s Market. With our bellies full, we’ll stop in HISTORIC HOLLYWOOD* for a brief walking tour of the HOLLYWOOD HIGHLAND COMPLEX and GRAUMAN’S CHINESE THEATER of celebrity hand and footprints. You’ll see where the Academy Awards is held and learn the behind-the-scenes secrets the broadcasters of the awards ceremony don’t want you to know! Then, it’s a short hop to PARAMOUNT PICTURES**. Our tour guides will show us backlots and sounds stages as we explore over a century of Hollywood history and witness more in the making. The evening is at your leisure.
*The Hollywood Highland Complex is scheduled to undergo extensive construction some time in 2020. In the event that accessing the complex is prohibitive, we will drive through Historic Hollywood and stop at the La Brea Tar Pits.
**Paramount Pictures does not allow children under 10 on the VIP studio tour.
DAY 5: Sunday, January 3 (B)
It’s departure day! No activities are scheduled. Thank you so much for traveling with Tour Monkey! We hope you join us another tour. WHEN DOES THE TOUR BEGIN AND END EXACTLY?
The 4 night/5 day Tournament of Roses Parade tour begins on Wednesday, December 30, at the Hyatt Regency Long Beach: 200 S Pine Ave, Long Beach, CA 90802; 562-491-1234. The Tour Monkey hospitality desk will be open from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Hotel check-in begins at 3:00pm. If you arrive early, your luggage can be stored at the bell desk. Please arrive by 5:00pm. The tour ends on departure day, Sunday, January 3. Please let us know if you require extra pre- or post-tour nights at the Hyatt Regency Long Beach.
WILL TOUR MONKEY BOOK MY FLIGHTS?
No. You are responsible for purchasing roundtrip airfare. Tour Monkey recommends that you fly into Long Beach Airport (LGB). Group tickets can be arranged upon request. Please DO NOT book your flights until you receive written notification from Tour Monkey that the trip is a go!

HOW DO I REGISTER FOR THIS TRIP?

WHEN DO I NEED TO PAY FOR MY TRIP?
A deposit of $250 per person is due at the time of reservation. The balance is due by October 15th. Reservations made after October 15th (pending availability) must be paid for in full at the time of booking. Please know that a 2.9% credit card fee is included in the price of the tour. If you choose to pay via a free bank transfer from your checking account, we will donate the fee amount ($49 triple/quad, $52 double/$61 single) to the Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center. WILL I GET A REFUND IF I NEED TO CANCEL MY TRIP?
In the event that it is necessary for you to cancel, a refund is as follows:
- 120 days (September 30): 100% refunded, less $250 administration fee
- 119 – 60 days (by October 30): 50% refunded, less $250 administration fee
- Less than 60 days: No refund

WHY IS THERE A SINGLE SUPPLEMENT FEE FOR SOLO TRAVELERS?
The single supplement fee has been imposed by the hotel industry and cannot be waived.
CAN A SOLO TRAVELER BE MATCHED WITH A ROOMMATE?
If solo travelers wish to be matched, Tour Monkey will provide traveler contact information. Tour Monkey suggests you meet in person or video chat to determine if you are compatible.
I RESERVED MY SPOT, WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
You will also be sent via email a MEDICAL FORM that must be completed and returned. We know this information is personal; however, please be assured that it is only for Tour Monkey and will not be shared with anyone else. In the unlikely event that you are injured during the trip, your medical information may be needed by medical professionals.

WHAT KIND OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITY IS REQUIRED?
The tour is designed for active travelers, who can easily walk a minimum of 3 miles per day.
WHAT KIND OF VEHICLE WILL WE BE TOURING IN?
We will be touring in a mini-coach. There is no restroom on mini-coaches, but we will be making plenty of stops during our time together!
WHERE ARE OUR ROSE PARADE SEATS LOCATED?
We will be assigned a block of grandstand seats close to the beginning of the parade. The blue star on the image below indicates the approximate location of our seats. A ‘seat’ is an assigned space on a backless bench. Storage space is restricted to your lap! Items placed beneath your seat will fall through slats in the ‘flooring.’ Less is more! Bring your Tour Monkey seat cushion, parade program, bottle of water, small purse or fanny pack, and any medications you need. Everything else can be left on the bus, which will be secured. Please refrain from wearing hats that will block the view of the person in back of you! Tour Manager Liz will go over prohibited items at a briefing.
CAN I PURCHASE ROSE BOWL TICKETS?
If you would like to attend the Rose Bowl game, please call Jay Brooks at 800-228-4849. Tell him you are part of Liz Moran’s Tour Monkey group. Each ticket purchased through Jay Brooks includes a box lunch and roundtrip transfer from the parade to the game and the game to the hotel. If you purchase your own ticket(s), you are on your own after the parade! We cannot drop you off at the Rose Bowl Stadium or anywhere else after the parade.

WHAT WILL THE WEATHER BE LIKE IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA?
The average temperature in December and January is 68°F. The mornings and evenings can cool down even further. Definitely dress in layers and check the weather forecast before you depart!
WHAT TYPE OF GRATUITIES SHOULD I BE AWARE OF?
Thanks for asking! Arrival and departure luggage porterage is included in the price of your tour, so no need to tip the bellman. A $3 per person/per day gratuity is appropriate for the driver. A $3 per person gratuity is appropriate for your Paramount Studios guide. There is no need to tip Tour Manager, Liz.
